Greetings all! So we just played our last game for 2018. With the next couple Mondays being holiday eves, it does not look like many would show up. So with that in mind, I figured I would post up the yearly review.
Games
Looking back at the year, it looked like the campaigns we did have went over quite well. There were only 3 of them in total, but everyone seem to enjoy them. It was more open gaming this year than anything. I also tried out a TTB Mondays campaign which start off like a lion and went out like mold on cheese. Only one player of the crew was even there for the last event. With that said, I will most likely not try that again next year. Other than that, the event went over pretty good. Had the big one with the Bugeater, which I will be running again this year. I have no idea how that will work out this year, and to be honest, I am not looking forward to it.
Prizes
This year I tried a guild script and auction style prize theme. Did not work well. There were only two prizes even handed out and it seemed to be forgotten as quickly as it was started. I will continue to try and come up with some neat prizes, but wyrd themselves is not making it easy.
Community
The community continues to hold in there. As much as I tried to run demos and draw people in, we only continue to lose players and not gain. We had two possibles and they left for other games. We also lost two more from the community, bringing us to 5/6 players if everyone shows up. I hope that m3e will bring in some new people, otherwise 2019 might be the last year for Malifaux.
2019
Next year could be quite a ride. M3E will be out at some point, that will seal the fate for the community. Until then, we got one last shifting loyalties campaign. There is also talk of trying out other games on the open months, which could be what Monday nights turn into if malifaux burns out. It will be will filled with lots of surprises and I hope most are good.
Closing
In closing, I would really like to thank all that support the community by showing up and playing. Without you few people, there would be no game night. I know I have said it before, but for I know that Mondays are the only chance to get out and game, have fun, and relax for some people. I know it is for me. Even if there are nights when I don't get in a game, it is still nice to just be off from work and enjoy everyone's company. I hope that, malifaux or not, we can continue to keep Mondays around as a gaming night. So here is to a happy new year everyone!
